No more guesswork when it comes to wages?
Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet, the French Minister for Labour and Employment, has announced that the European directive on remuneration will be transposed by the end of 2025.
A bill of law will be submitted to Parliament in the autumn, following a cycle of consultations with unions which is due to begin shortly.
The aim? To put an end to pay inequalities, particularly between men and women, but also to ensure greater fairness for all. The upcoming law should be applicable from 2026.
The time to play hide-and-seek for companies with over 100 employees is over. They will have to publish a report detailing pay levels and any discrepancies.
Transparency will become the leading principle. When recruiting, vague statements such as “salary according to profile” or “according to experience” will disappear. Once hired, all employees will be able to consult pay scales, the criteria for awarding increases and salaries for equivalent positions or those of the same “value”.
Anticipating this change means adapting pay policies: communicating clearly, involving employees in discussions on remuneration and rebuilding pay scales with transparent criteria. In short, there’s no more room for chance!
